1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk 
1 large egg
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup maraschino  cherries, drained
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 375° and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Drain cherries, dry on paper towel.
In a medium bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Set aside.
In another bowl beat the milk, egg, butter, and vanilla. 
Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined. 
Fold in the cherries and chocolate chips.
Fill the muffin tins 2/3 full. Bake 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool slightly and enjoy!
